The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has ruled that Sony has to refund early Vita owners due to a "misleading" advertising campaign it ran from late 2011 to early 2012.The wording that the FTC took issue with is claiming in these adverts that the Vita would have "game changing" features.The adverts claimed that players could use "remote play" to engage in "cross platform" play by starting a game on a PS3, and then transferring it to a Vita to play it from the same point.It's this that the FTC said was misleading.Deutsch LA, Sony's advertising agency, also came under fire by the FTC for telling its employees to promote the Vita on Twitter without disclosing their professional connection to it.Rights to refundsDue to all this, people who reside in the US and who bought a Vita before June 1st 2012 are entitled to a refund.This will either be a $25 cash or credit refund, or a $50 voucher that can be used for Vita games or other services on the handheld.Those entitled to this refund will receive an email from Sony confirming as such once the settlement has been finalized.FTC
